On this day in 1989, the Northrop B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomb made its first flight. Finally fulfilling the dream of the flying wing initiated by Jack Northrop in the 40's, this ultra-secret bomber needed more than 8 years of development and it would still need as much before it could enter in service. Only 21 aircraft have been built. 30 years later, this design always still feels to be out of a science fiction book.
