On this day in 1954, the brand new Boeing jet airliner prototype Model 367 performed its maiden, as a birthday present to a company founded on the same day in 1916. Powered by 4 JT3C jet engines of 4500kg of thrust, it was capable of a cruise speed of nearly 900 km/h, leaving the generation of DC-7 and Constellation far behind. This prototype was the starting point of the KC-135 and Boeing 707, which is the start of Boeing modern history as a global commercial aircraft manufacturer.
