On this day in 1969, at the Paris airshow, the French and German governments sign the development agreement for the new European airliner Airbus A300. The English are also part of it, Hawker Siddeley participating as a private entity. The Americans are taking some slice out of the cake by providing GE CF6 engines even if SNECMA is a partner. A few months after the first flight of Concorde, this indicates a brand new path for European aeronautical cooperation. A visionary decision, when you know the strength of the Airbus group 50 years later.
