On this day in 1998, after President Clinton had vetoed the required budget for the operations of the Blackbird, the US Air Force had to bring operation of the legendary Lockheed SR-71A to an end. It was the last air force to have a 'Mach 3' capability, after 32 years of trisonic reconnaissance all over the planet.
