On this day in 1934, The twin engine Lockheed Model 10 Electra transport aircraft made its first flight. Lloyd Stearman and Hall Hibbard had designed this fully metallic aircraft in response to the ban on single engine to perform commercial or night flights which had been enacted a few months earlier by the American government. Clarence Kelly Johnson made his first weapons on the wind tunnel tests of the Electra.
