On this day in 1925, Geoffrey de Havilland flew his newborn, the DH.60 Moth, for the first time from Stag Lane field. Built from plywood and fabric, it was powered by a 60 hp Cirrus engine, itself derived from an 8 cylinder from Renault. De Havilland then developed then the Gipsy engine to power his Moth.
