On this day in 1976, the Concorde performed its first commercial flight. F-BVFA took off from Charles de Gaulle towards Rio de Janeiro with a stopover in Dakar. G-BOAA had at the same time taken off from Heathrow towards Bahrain. For the first time, passengers traveled faster than sound.
